Distripress kongresszus Barcelonában Opening of the 51st Distripress Congress Barcelona 2006, October 15-19 M E D I A R E L E A S E Distripress - the Association for the Promotion of the International Circulation of the Press – will turn its spotlight on current topics of the international press distribution business at its 51st annual Congress to be held from October 15-19 in Barcelona, Spain. The Distripress Congress is the largest annual meeting place for the international press distribution industry. Over 1200 participants – one of the highest recorded numbers in the history of the association - representing around 400 companies such as publishers, distributors and ancillary services from 78 countries involved in international distribution and marketing of newspapers and magazines meet to discuss the latest developments. Also a high number of non-members will attend the congress this year. Over 10’000 business talks between publishers and their partners will take place at the Business Conference – a proof that the demand towards foreign and international publications is still growing. The Congress will be opened on Monday morning by a keynote speech of Federico Mayor Zaragoza, President of the Foundation for a “Culture of Peace” in Madrid, former Director General of UNESCO. Distripress President John Kayser will report on the activities of the association in 2005/2006 including successful actions to protect the freedom of the press, the contribution to the establishment of common rules of fair and efficient international press circulation, the efficient work of regular platforms for exchange of information and experiences in form of congresses, trade events and publications. The Expo with 13 exhibitors, integrated in the Congress, is also the place to learn about the latest developments in marketing, press logistics and new technologies. In the frame of the Forum Program 32 speakers from 11 countries will present exciting new aspects of the press industry and draw the attention to current trends, achievements and problems. For the first time legal questions will also be on the agenda. The focus is on the following topics: Tuesday, October 17th: - Do we need rules in press distribution?
